Background
The Ransom County Treasurer is an elected position with a four-year term. The Treasurers duties are listed in the North Dakota Century Code. They include receiving all incoming money, reconcile bank accounts, collect fines and fees from county offices, monthly disbursements to various taxing authorities, invest county funds to receive best returns, and provide information to the lending agencies, realtors, and general public.
How to Pay Your Taxes
Payment Options
A.) Online – Your lending institution may be escrowing your taxes for you. Contact your mortgage company or lending Institution if you have questions.
A convenience fee will be added to online payments.

C.) Escrow– Your lending institution may be escrowing your taxes for you. Contact your mortgage company or lending Institution if you have questions.
D.) US Mail & Special Delivery – Your payment must be postmarked on or before the due date to be considered on time. Payments must be US dollars by money order, cashier’s check or by personal check.

Real Estate and Moblie Home Taxes
Payment Dates and Late Penalty Information
Tax season begins January 1st when taxes become due. A 5% discount is allowed on real estate and mobile home taxes if paid in full on for before February 15. Discount does not apply to specials.
Tax may be paid in first and second installments. First installment consists of one-half of the consolidated tax and the full amount of special assessments and drains.
First installment is due on or before March1.
If not paid on or before March 1 use the following penalty schedule.

Second installment consists of the remaining half of the consolidated tax due on or before October 17.

Interest of 12% per annum will begin after January 1.
If total amount is paid by February 15, a 5% discount is allowed.
